Light objects on dark background seem to be larger compare to their real size and overlap part of the dark background. When we are looking at light objects on dark surface, borders of the light objects expending over their real geometric size due to imperfection of the eye lens. On this image, because of the contrast of the light, white inner square seems to be larger than its black counterpart.
